Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Areas of rain with heavy falls (a chance of thunder also) then easing late afternoon / evening. Strong to gale northwesterlies about coastal areas in the morning then easing later in the afternoon.

Eastern North Island
Cloudy with spits of rain spreading from the west at times, gusty strong northwesterly winds ease later in the evening.
Highs: 20-22
Wellington
Rain with heavy falls possible, easing during the afternoon and clearing by evening. Strong to gale northwesterly winds gradually ease.
High: 16
Marlborough & Nelson
Rain (heavy falls about Nelson) clears early afternoon then becoming mostly sunny, breezy north to northwesterly winds ease later in the day.
Highs: 17-20
Canterbury
Dry with high cloud and some sun, winds from the west or northwest. In the evening a south to southwesterly change moves in bringing showers, some may be heavy with thunderstorms then easing overnight. Shower activity mostly staying south of about Waipara, conditions remain mainly dry further north.
Highs: 16-19
West Coast
Showers, some may be heavy at times then clearing later in the evening. Northwesterlies.
Highs: 14-15
Southland & Otago
Dry at first with some sun then early afternoon showers move in with a southwest change, showers may be heavy with thunderstorms and hail then clearing in the evening.
Highs: 14-17
