A cold south to southwesterly airflow eases during today meanwhile a slim ridge of high pressure starts to move onto the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Early heavy showers ease, there may be a remaining shower during the rest of the day. Sunny spells increase, southwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning sun, cloud thickens up in the afternoon Wanganui eastwards with showers moving in then clearing overnight. About the likes of Taranaki conditions stay mostly sunny during the day. South to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-16

Eastern North Island
Sunny spells, showers develop during the afternoon, some may be heavy then clearing in the evening. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Wellington
Showers, clearing in the evening. Cool southerlies.
Highs: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
Marlborough sees rain ease to showers in the afternoon then clearing, some sun breaks through late in the day. Nelson sees any morning showers clear then sunny areas increase from afternoon. Cool southerly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Canterbury
Early rain eases to showers which gradually clear late afternoon / evening. There may be some sun late in the day. Cool Southerlies ease.
Highs: 10-13

West Coast
Sunny with south to southeasterly winds.
High: 17

Southland & Otago
Any morning cloud / drizzle clears then mostly sunny about Southland and inland Otago. Coastal Otago still sees areas of cloud with slightly cooler temperatures. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-17
