A front weakens over the upper North Island during today while another front over the upper South Island weakens during the day also, both fronts are quite slow moving. A northwesterly airflow for the most part over the North Island while west to southwest winds lie over the South.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Patchy showers or drizzle, easing in the evening. Northland may be dry for much of the morning then showers or drizzle moves in late afternoon. West to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 22

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas. Breezy west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 21-22

Eastern North Island

High cloud with some sun breaking through at times, chance spot of rain otherwise mainly dry. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 28-30

Wellington

A mix of sun and cloud with breezy north to northwesterly winds.
High: 20

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with some high cloud at times, especially in the evening. Morning showers clear Nelson then expect sunny spells. Gusty northwesterlies ease later in the day.
Highs: 22-24

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with breezy west to northwesterly winds.
High: 24

West Coast

Early rain eases to showers which mostly clear in the afternoon then sunny areas break through. A few showers may hang about Fiordland through till evening. Breezy westerlies.
Highs: 16-19

Southland & Otago

Cloudy areas and a few showers, more so from midday through till evening. Otago has a higher chance of sun and only the risk of a few showers in the afternoon. Westerlies, strengthening in the afternoon especially about Southland.
Highs: 14-19
