A southwesterly airflow lies over the country today. It’s mainly settled, although a few showers may affect Northland, Southland and parts of Otago during the day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny spells with light southwesterly winds. There may be isolated showers about Northland until late afternoon. Showers may even be heavy with a thunderstorm. The Waikato and Bay Of Plenty are mainly sunny with light winds, some high cloud.
Highs: 16-18
 
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning cloud breaks to a mostly sunny afternoon, south to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-16
 
Eastern North Island
Chance of a shower or two in the morning, otherwise mainly dry. Cloud breaks to sunny spells in the afternoon then totally clears by evening. Southerly breezes die out later in the day.
Highs: 15-16
 
Wellington
Sunny spells, southerly winds die out in the evening.
High: 12-13
 
Marlborough & Nelson
Areas of cloud and sunny spells. Light winds tend easterly in the afternoon about Marlborough and light northerly in the afternoon for Nelson.
High: 14

Canterbury
Any early drizzle clears, then cloud breaks to a mostly sunny afternoon, light winds.
High: 13-14
 
West Coast
Sunny spells with light west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-14
 
Southland & Otago
Cloudy areas with the chance of a shower or two about Southland and coastal Otago up to Otago Peninsula, mainly sunny and dry elsewhere. Breezy west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-13
