A ridge lies over the North Island today while a northerly airflow increases over the South Island. Rain starts to move onto the West Coat of the South Island, with some high cloud developing elsewhere.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, though there is the chance of a light shower about exposed eastern regions (Coromandel, Great Barrier Island, eastern Northland). Light east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with high cloud increasing in the afternoon, north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 12-15

Eastern North Island

Cloudy areas about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne with light east to southeasterly winds. Wairarapa is looking mainly sunny with high cloud from late afternoon.
High: 14

Wellington

Mostly sunny with high cloud increasing from afternoon, breezy northerly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, north to northwesterly winds pick up in the afternoon.
Highs: 13-15

Canterbury

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, north to northeasterly winds increase later in the day.
Highs: 12-13

West Coast

Cloudy with showers south of the glaciers turning to rain in the afternoon Rain spreads northwards later in the evening or overnight. Northeasterly winds increase.
Highs: 10-12

Southland & Otago

Plenty of high cloud and some sun at times. A few spots of rain later in the evening. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 10-11
