A southwesterly airflow eases over the country today. Parts of the upper South Island, lower North Island and western North Island still see a few showers but they gradually clear away.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas, the odd shower possible till evening especially out west. Westerlies ease. Northland sees high cloud thicken from morning with rain there overnight becoming heavy by dawn on Wednesday.
Highs: 16-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Showers, easing afternoon and clearing evening. The odd sunny spell possible from afternoon more so about Taranaki. Westerly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Eastern North Island

A few showers about the Wairarapa for much of the day with southwest winds, showers may push into the Hawkes Bay briefly late afternoon otherwise mainly sunny weather can be expected in the Bay and about Gisborne with westerly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Wellington

A few drizzle patches or showers, Southerly winds.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson

Morning cloud with the chance of a few showers then breaking to sunny areas in the afternoon, light winds.
Highs: 12-14

Canterbury

Morning drizzle or showers clear then breaking to sunny areas in the afternoon, Sou’West winds.
High: 12

West Coast

Morning showers about North Westland clear then sunny areas develop, sunny areas from the get go further south. Light winds.
Highs: 11-13

Southland & Otago

Morning cloud clears to become mostly sunny, light winds.
High: 11-12
