A southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, mainly sunny in the east and northeast however western parts of the country see some cloud and the chance of a shower or two.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas, chance of a shower or two mainly afternoon about Northland and Auckland. Gusty southwesterly winds ease later in the day. The Bay Of Plenty is mostly sunny.
Highs: 20-22

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with light winds tending south to southeast this afternoon about Manawatu. Elsewhere sees breezy southwesterly winds for much of today.
Highs: 19-21

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny this morning, a few clouds from midday as winds tend southerly.
Highs: 20-21

Wellington

Mostly sunny, northerlies tend southerly late morning.
High: 19

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny for Marlborough with west to southwest winds tending light easterly this afternoon. Nelson sees breezy southwesterly winds for much of today.
Highs: 20-21

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with light winds tending Southerly around midday.
Highs: 19-20

West Coast

Areas of cloud and the odd shower, mainly this morning then gradually clearing away. Southwesterly winds.
Highs 16-17

Southland & Otago

Southland and Coastal Otago see a few showers, mostly clearing early afternoon however the odd one may linger till evening. Central Otago sees sunny areas for much of the day while coastal Otago may see some sun from this afternoon. Winds from the west or southwest strong about Southland and Otago Peninsula southwards then gradually easing from afternoon.
