A front lies over the South Island today bringing some wet weather for most regions. The North Island has a westerly quarter airflow, chance of a shower mainly in the west Taranaki southwards.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas with west to southwesterly winds, breezy during the afternoon then easing later in the day.
Highs: 19-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly cloudy with the odd shower during the day, long dry spells too. Breezy west to southwesterly winds tend southerly by evening.
Highs: 17-19

Eastern North Island

Mainly sunny in the morning with light winds, southerlies freshen around midday bringing increasing cloud and patchy showers to the Wairarapa. The odd shower pushing into Hawkes Bay and Gisborne in the evening.
Highs: 21-23

Wellington

Nor’West winds change southerly late morning bringing cloud and a few showers.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson

Some early sun then southerlies freshen up by mid morning bringing cloud and patchy light showers, showers turning to rain in the afternoon for Nelson.
Highs: 14-17

Canterbury

Showers from early on, clearing late afternoon. Southerly winds tend northeast by evening.
High: 11

West Coast

Rain with east to northeasterly winds, rain mostly clearing overnight although the odd shower may remain.
Highs: 13-14

Southland & Otago

Early showers clear then cloud breaks to sunny areas, south to southwesterly winds die out later in the day.
Highs: 10-13
