Fairly calm across the country today with a weak ridge of high pressure over the South Island, while the North Island sees a south to southeasterly airflow most places out west have a mainly good day. This is to the detriment of the east coast however which sees cloudier skies, a few showers about for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne too.
Northland
A few early showers clear in the east, morning cloud breaks to sunny spells with southeasterlies tending more south to southwest in the afternoon.
Mostly sunny with some high cloud decreasing during the day, southerlies
tend a little more southwest in the afternoon.
Plenty of high cloud with southeasterly winds.

Waikato & Central North Island
Mostly sunny with some high cloud about, south to southeasterly
winds.

Eastern North Island
Mostly cloudy with easterly winds, fresh about Gisborne. There may be a
light shower or drizzle patch about for Hawkes Bay northwards.
Sunny with southerly breezes.

Western North Island
Sunny areas and some high cloud, easterly winds.
Mostly sunny with light easterlies.
Sunny with light winds tending northerly.
Sunny with light winds tending easterly or northeast.
Sunny with light winds tending southerly in the morning then northeast in
the afternoon.
Mainly sunny after any morning cloud clears, light southwesterlies. About
Fiordland skies will be a little cloudier with northerlies, chance of a drizzle
patch there otherwise dry.
