A low brews off the West Coast of the South Island today, the airflow is from the north. Many places will see cloudy skies with patchy rain or drizzle especially about western regions. The North Island’s east coast does best weather wise today.

Northland
Patchy rain or drizzle with northeasterly winds, areas of rain more likely in the east.
Highs: 21-22

Auckland

Cloudy with the odd area of drizzle or patchy rain. Breezy northeasterly winds.
High: 21

Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy spells with northeasterly winds, there may be a drizzle patch at
times, especially towards evening.
Highs: 20-21

Waikato & Central North Island

Mostly cloudy with northeasterly breezes, a few sunny areas may break
through in the afternoon. From evening the odd shower or spot of rain is
possible.
Highs: 17-21

Eastern North Island

Becoming mostly sunny early in the morning, some high cloud about during
the day. Northeasterly winds. Overnight cloud thickens with spots of rain
spreading into Wairarapa.
Highs: 20-21

Western North Island

Any early spits clear then expect cloudy areas with a few afternoon sunny
spells, light northeasterlies. Overnight rain moves in from the west. About
Taranaki, skies will be mostly cloudy during the day with the risk of a spit of
rain. Later in the evening rain moves in with heavy falls possible.
Highs: 19-23

Wellington

Mostly cloudy with northerly winds, the odd spot of rain possible at times.
Rain more likely later in the evening.
High: 18

Nelson

Scattered rain with northeasterly winds, rain becoming heavy afternoon
onwards then easing overnight.
High: 19

Marlborough

Cloudy with northerlies becoming breezy in the morning, scattered rain
especially from afternoon. Rain more persistent about western parts of the
region, then evening onwards heavy rain may affect western parts.
Highs: 18-19

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy with northeasterly winds, the odd brief shower or spit of
rain at times. Overnight winds change southwest about South Canterbury with
showers.
Highs: 17-19

West Coast

Rain, heavy falls and thunderstorms at times, easing in the evening.
Northeasterly winds.
High: 17

Coastal Otago

Mostly cloudy with a few morning drizzle patches clearing, northeasterly
winds. Overnight showers move in with a southwest change.
High: 14-15

Central Otago

Mostly cloudy with morning rain easing and clearing early afternoon, light
winds. Patchy rain moves in again overnight as winds tend southerly.
Highs: 17-18

Southland

Cloudy with patchy rain (more likely midday onwards), light winds tend
southerly during the afternoon.
High: 14
