A front moves north over the country today, most parts of the South Island will see a period of rain or showers for a time. As the front moves onto the North Island this evening it weakens with mainly the lower North Island and eastern regions recieving some rain or showers.

Auckland & Northland
Sunny spells with westerly breezes, cloud thickens in the afternoon. Risk of a brief shower in the evening as winds change more southwest. Many places may
remain fairly dry especially Northland.
Highs: 23-24

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island

Sunny spells and increasing cloud with westerly winds, a few showers move
through in the evening with a southwest change. Mostly sunny about the Bay Of
Plenty with cloud thickening in the evening, westerly breezes.
Highs: 20-24

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with light winds tending westerly, high cloud thickens from
midday. Late afternoon or evening a southwest change brings rain. Rain eases to
showers overnight.
Highs: 23-24

Western North Island

Mostly cloudy, northwesterlies change southwest late afternoon or early
evening bringing rain which eases overnight.
Highs: 20

Wellington

Becoming mostly cloudy in the morning with northerly winds, northerlies
change southerly late afternoon with rain which clears around midnight.
Highs: 19-20

Nelson

Becoming cloudy in the morning with northwesterly winds, some scattered
rain moves through in the afternoon then clears with cloud breaking. Winds
change southerly in the evening.
Highs: 21-22

Marlborough

Sunny with some high cloud and light westerlies, winds change southerly
late afternoon or evening with some rain which then clears around
midnight.
High: 22

Canterbury

Winds change southerly this morning bringing showers to South and Mid
Canterbury which then clear late afternoon or evening. Cloud increases further
north from mid morning as southwesterlies move through then expect showers from
late morning then clearing around midnight.
Highs: 15-16

West Coast

Rain, clearing early afternoon and becoming mostly sunny, northerlies
change southerly around midday.
High: 17

Coastal Otago

Rain eases to showers then clears around midday, brisk southwesterlies ease
later in the day.
High: 17

Central Otago

Morning rain clears then becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon. Southerly
breezes die out later in the evening. Cold overnight with light frosts
possible.
High: 16

Southland

Rain eases then clears by midday, sunny breaks then increase with
southwesterly winds dying out by evening.
High: 13
