A front moves onto the lower North Island this morning however weakens considerably as it does so. Showers or rain clear early this morning about the South Island with sunny spells developing in the afternoon, some may remain fairly cloudy however. For the North Island conditions are fairly settled although there may be a shower or two in the southwest.

Auckland & Northland
Mostly sunny with light northwesterlies in the morning, winds tend southwest in the afternoon. About eastern Northland winds tend northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 24-25

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island

Periods of cloud and a few sunny spells, light northwesterlies tend more
westerly in the afternoon. Chance afternoon shower about the Central North
Island otherwise mainly dry. The Bay Of Plenty experiences afternoon northerly
breezes.
Highs: 23-25

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with some morning high cloud clearing, light winds tend
easterly in the afternoon.
Highs: 24-26

Western North Island

Areas of cloud with a few sunny spells, morning northwesterlies. Winds
change southwest around midday bringing a few brief showers for a time then
clearing by evening. About Taranaki expect a period of morning showers, sunny
spells in the afternoon with northwesterlies tending southwest.
Highs: 21-24

Wellington

Early showers clear then sunny spells develop in the afternoon, northerly
winds ease in the afternoon and then tend light southerly for a time.
High: 20

Nelson

Early showers clear then mostly sunny with light southwesterlies at first
then afternoon northerly breezes.
Highs: 22-23

Marlborough

Chance of an early shower, mostly sunny otherwise with light
southwesterlies at first then afternoon northeasterly breezes.
High: 21-23

Canterbury

Chance of an early shower then clearing, cloudy areas and a few afternoon
sunny breaks. Easterly breezes.
Highs: 20-21

West Coast

Any early showers clear then expect mostly sunny weather with light
southwesterlies.
High: 19

Coastal Otago

Sunny spells with easterly breezes.
Highs: 19-20

Central Otago
Mostly sunny
with light winds tending southwest in the afternoon.

Highs: 21-22

Southland

Sunny spells with northwesterly breezes tending more westerly in the
afternoon. Chance late evening spot of rain.
High: 19
