A low pressure system is centred west of the North Island tonight, it pushes rain over the North Island and parts of the upper South Island. South of about Banks Peninsula the rest of the South Island stays dry.

Auckland & Northland

Rain with heavy falls then easing later this evening / overnight to showers. Showers clear by dawn tomorrow. Winds brisk from the northeast.

Bay Of Plenty

Patchy showers then rain moving in this evening, rain may become heavy overnight with possible thunderstorms. Breezy northeasterlies.

Waikato & Central North Island

Cloudy with a few patchy showers about, rain moves into the Waikato this
evening then further south overnight. Breezy northeasterlies.

Tonight’s Lows: 7-9

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy skies with patchy rain overnight, northeasterlies.

Tonight’s Lows: 8-9

Taranaki

Cloudy with the odd light shower then rain moves in mid to late evening,
fresh northeasterlies.

Tonight’s Lows: 9-10

Western North Island

Cloudy with the odd shower moving in this evening, some overnight rain.
Light east to northeasterly winds.

Tonight’s Low: 8

Wellington

Cloudy with light northerlies, areas of rain develop overnight.

Tonight’s Lows: 8-9

Nelson

Cloudy with some drizzle later this evening then rain overnight, light
winds freshen from the south towards dawn tomorrow.

Tonight’s Low: 7

Marlborough

Cloudy with some drizzle later this evening then rain overnight, light
winds freshen from the south towards dawn tomorrow.

Tonight’s Lows: 6-7

Canterbury

Cloudy skies with light southerlies, some drizzle possible overnight north
of about Banks Peninsula. Parts of South Canterbury especially inland may just
see some high cloud.

Tonight’s Lows: 2-3

West Coast

Ares of high cloud with southeasterly winds, mainly clear skies about
Fiordland. A few showers north of about Greymouth overnight.

Coastal Otago

Mainly clear skies with a touch of high cloud, light winds.

Central Otago

Mainly clear skies with a touch of high cloud, light winds.

Southland

Mainly clear skies with light west to northwest winds.
