Fairly cloudy skies across the country tonight under a northeasterly airflow. Northeasterlies about the upper North Island particularly strong with gales for many Auckland northwards overnight. Rain also heavy about Northland.

Northland

Rain with heavy falls, especially in the east. Strong to gale easterlies with severe gale gusts at times.

Tonight’s Lows: 12-13

Auckland

Cloudy with the odd patchy shower or drizzle patch, brisk easterlies becoming strong at times overnight with a risk of gales in some areas,
especially in the north and east.

Tonight’s Low: 12

Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy with brisk easterlies, becoming strong overnight. Patchy rain or
drizzle overnight, mainly in the west of the region.

Tonight’s Lows: 11-12

Waikato & Central North Island

High cloud thickening about the Central North Island this evening,
remaining mainly dry overnight with breezy easterlies. Cloudy about the Waikato
with the odd shower possible from evening, more likely overnight. Brisk easterly
winds.

Tonight’s Lows: 6-9

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with easterly winds, overnight drizzle.

Tonight’s Lows: 8-9

Western North Island

Thick high cloud about Taranaki, increasing high cloud elsewhere, brisk
easterlies.

Tonight’s Lows: 7-9

Wellington

Some increasing high cloud, easterlies.

Tonight’s Low: 8

Nelson

High cloud with light winds.

Tonight’s Low: 5

Marlborough

Cloudy areas with east to southeasterly winds, chance of a drizzle
patch.

Tonight’s Low: 6

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy with northeasterly winds, light winds inland near the
foothills with cloud building there this evening. A risk of some drizzle from
evening, mainly coastal and north of Banks Peninsula.

Tonight’s Lows: 4-6

West Coast

Some high cloud, easterly winds.

Tonight’s Lows: 4-5

Coastal Otago

Mostly cloudy with breezy northeasterlies.

Tonight’s Low: 6

Central Otago

Plenty of high cloud with light northeasterlies.

Tonight’s Lows: 0-1

Southland

Plenty of high cloud with light northeasterlies.

Tonight’s Low: 1
