A west to northwest airflow lies over the country tonight, dry for eastern regions with some high cloud developing overnight. In the west of both islands conditions are a bit cloudier with the odd shower possible, the West Coast of the South Island sees areas of rain move in this evening or overnight.

Auckland & Northland
Periods of cloud with westerlies tending light northerly this evening. Chance of the odd shower about otherwise dry.
Tonight’s Lows: 12-14

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island

Periods of cloud with west to northwest winds. The odd shower, mainly about Waikato and west of Lake Taupo. The Bay Of Plenty stays dry overnight with areas of cloud.
Tonight’s Lows: 11-13

Eastern North Island

Mainly clear skies with some high cloud developing overnight, west to
northwest breezes.
Tonight’s Lows: 11-13

Western North Island

Periods of cloud with the odd shower possible, west to northwest winds.
Showers may become heavy overnight about Taranaki.
Tonight’s Lows: 12-14

Wellington

Clear spells this evening, cloud thickens overnight. Strong northerly
winds.
Tonight’s Low: 14

Nelson

Mainly clear skies with west to northwest winds, some cloud increases
overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 11

Marlborough

Mainly clear skies with some high cloud increasing overnight, west to
northwest winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 9-10

Canterbury

Mainly clear skies with some high cloud developing this evening,
northerlies.
Tonight’s Lows: 11-12

West Coast

Cloudy with the odd shower about, rain develops during this evening or
overnight. Heavy falls and thunderstorms possible overnight. Northerlies.
Tonight’s Lows: 12-13

Coastal Otago

A few areas of cloud with light winds, chance of a brief shower this
evening any of which clear.
Tonight’s Lows: 8-9

Central Otago

Westerlies with the odd shower about, mainly in the far west of the
district (Southern Lakes area and west of there). Clearer skies further east.
Winds tend northerly tonight.
Tonight’s Low: 5

Southland

Periods of cloud with westerlies tending northerly tonight, chance of the
odd spit about by dawn tomorrow.
Tonight’s Low: 6
