A low pressure system brings high cloud to the upper South Island and lower North Island overnight, clearer skies about the lower South Island. For the Upper North Island expect mainly cloudy skies, the odd drizzle patch moves in overnight with some rain about Northland.

Auckland & Northland

Cloudy with the odd brief spit or light shower at times, long dry spells too. Easterly breezes. Some rain about Northland later this evening or overnight.

Tonight’s Lows: 17

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy with easterly breezes. The odd drizzle patch develops overnight, more so about the Bay Of Plenty with a few sparser light falls about the Waikato and Central North Island.

Tonight’s Low: 13-18

Eastern North Island

High cloud with northeast breezes, easing a little overnight. Cloud may bring the odd light spit about Gisborne towards dawn tomorrow morning.

Tonight’s Lows: 14-15

Western North Island

High cloud with west to southwest breezes easing later this evening, light winds overnight. Becoming cloudy this evening about Taranaki with east to northeast breezes developing, the odd shower or spell of rain by morning tomorrow.

Wellington

Some high cloud with northerly breezes.

Tonight’s Low: 15

Nelson

Areas of high cloud, northerlies ease later this evening.

Tonight’s Lows: 12-13

Marlborough

Some high cloud, breaking up later in the night. Norhwesterlies ease later this evening.

Tonight’s Low: 11

Canterbury

Mainly clear skies overnight, some coastal low cloud is possible. Easterlies ease this evening, light winds inland.

Tonight’s Lows: 10-11

West Coast

Mainly clear with some high cloud possible, light winds.

Tonight’s Lows: 9-11

Coastal Otago

Mainly clear skies, easterly breezes ease later this evening.

Tonight’s Low: 11

Central Otago

Clear skies with southwesterly breezes easing later this evening, light winds overnight.

Tonight’s Low: 7

Southland

Mainly clear skies tonight, breezes WSW winds near the coast ease later this evening. Light winds overnight.

Tonight’s Lows: 8-9
