A fast moving front moves over the country from the west this evening. With it comes heavy squally showers for some areas, particularly for the west of the North Island. Conditions ease overnight as the front passes out to the east.

Central North Island, Waikato, Auckland & Northland
Cloudy with showers moving in later this afternoon or evening, showers may be heavy and thundery at times with hail. Winds from the northwest becoming gusty this evening. Showers ease overnight, clearing in some areas as winds change to the west.
Lows tonight: 5-10

Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy with showers developing mid to late evening, showers may be heavy. Northwesterly winds, gusty at times. Showers clear overnight as winds change westerly.
Lows tonight: 8-9

Eastern North Island
High cloud thickens this evening with northwesterly winds developing, there may be a brief shower pass through later this evening then clearing. Winds tend more westerly overnight.
Lows tonight: 8-9

Western North Island
Rain about Taranaki easing to showers this evening as northerlies change westerly. Further south expect showers to develop this evening, northerly winds change westerly by midnight.
Lows tonight: 8-9

Wellington
Rain this evening easing to showers around midnight which then clear, gusty northerlies tend more westerly overnight.
Lows tonight: 9-10

Nelson
Rain easing to showers this evening as northerlies change westerly, showers clear around midnight.
Lows tonight: 6-7

Marlborough
A period of rain moves through this evening with gusty northwesterlies, skies clearing overnight with winds tending a little more westerly.
Lows tonight: 5-6

Canterbury
Cloudy with a few spots of rain this evening then skies becoming clear overnight, northeasterly winds ease tending west to northwest overnight.
Lows tonight: 5-6

West Coast
Rain, easing to showers later this evening. Showers could still be heavy at times. Gusty northeasterlies tend westerly later.
Low tonight: 6

Coastal Otago
A period of rain moves through this evening then clears before midnight, brisk northeasterlies ease later. Winds tend westerly overnight.
Lows tonight: 6-7

Southland & Central Otago
Cloudy with a period of rain moving through this evening then clearing around midnight, breezy northeasterly winds. Further showers develop towards dawn tomorrow.
Lows tonight: 2-5

It wasnt bad here,a few showers,the SWer as usual on Sun-monday was far stronger.

I must say, I’ve seen more action out of a weak cold front than this so called active one.
A trickle of a shower here in Whitby and it’s gone.

As we said all week (and as the forecast says above for your area, which is really western NI more than Wellington in many ways), some regions in the west would only get a few showers – no more than a small cold front. Was never going to be widespread severe-wise, just isolated pockets of it and clearly you weren’t in one of those isolated pockets! 🙂
