A tornado or microburst struck the Sun ‘n Fun Airshow in Linder Airfield in Lakeland FL at 2 pm. Straight-line winds estimated at 30-40 knots devastated aircraft across the field, flipping some in place and crashing others into adjacent aircraft. Hail, blinding rain and lightning added to the destruction
“Visibility was down to about 20-30 feet. It began to hail pea-sized hail. Within 20 minutes the wind picked up enough to rotate a number of aircraft. They were rotated about 90 degrees. Some of the aircraft around us were backed into other aircraft” said a witness.

Not a Tornado, from what I have seen and read about it, instead straight line winds (which can reach over hurricane force and do as much damage as a small tornado) associated with very strong downdrafts (microbursts) and outflow winds from an intense thunderstorm. (I have been in a similar storm myself while tornado chasing in the midwest)
