> From the WeatherWatch archives

Mostly cloudy weather across New Zealand today with northerly quarter winds, a warm front in the Tasman Sea makes contact with the West Coast of the South Island eventually bringing rain.

So for the North Island expect mostly cloudy weather today, winds from the northeast for most. There may be a light shower or two about Northland, Auckland and Bay Of Plenty from evening and then most other areas overnight.

Wellington and a few other lower parts of the North Island may see areas of sun today breaking through high cloud at times, winds about these lower parts from the northwest.

The South Island sees cloudy skies in the west, the odd light shower possible then rain moves in late afternoon or evening becoming heavy overnight.

The east coast sees plenty of high cloud, a few spots of rain about Southland and Otago late afternoon or evening. Canterbury, Marlborough and Nelson see the odd spot of rain from evening becoming more persistent overnight.
