Thursday’s national forecast

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Much of the country is fairly settled today but there will be plenty of cloud about plus some Aussie smoke higher up along with some rain and shower activity in the South Island.

Wettest weather will be on the West Coast with some rain and shower activity moving up into populated areas. A few showers are possible in the east or around Central Otago and maybe South Canterbury. The North Island looks dry today.

Winds in coastal areas may pick up a little. Smoke from Australia is likely over the North Island but is possible over both islands.

Apart from the very eastern coastal side of the South Island and parts of Auckland most regions are warmer than average today.
