A front slowly passes from west to east over New Zealand during today meanwhile a low follows in behind.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Some morning rain eases to showers and sunny spells, showers may be heavy in the afternoon then clearing in the evening. Overnight further showers move in with heavy falls and a chance of thunderstorms, especially in the west. Northerlies change west to northwest.
Highs: 15-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning rain eases to showers, some of which may be heavy. There may be a sunny spell or two break through from afternoon also. Northerly quarter winds.
Highs: 12-15

Eastern North Island
Dry at first then clouding up fairly quickly during the morning with some rain moving in before midday. Rain clears overnight. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Wellington
Patchy rain this morning then easing from afternoon, north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Marlborough & Nelson
Rain, clearing around midday then areas of sun breaking through, North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-15

Canterbury
Patchy rain or drizzle, easterly winds.
Highs: 12-13

West Coast
Rain easing to showers in the afternoon, chance of a sunny spell or two after midday otherwise mainly cloudy. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-15

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny about Southland, cloudy areas and occasional sun for Inland Otago. Coastal Otago sees mostly cloudy skies with a few patchy showers. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-17
