A ridge lies over most of New Zealand today stretching out from an anticyclone in the Tasman Sea, a southerly airflow for the North Island especially in the east eases during the day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

A mainly sunny day with light southerly winds. Some morning cloud about Northland brings the chance of a shower then mainly sunny from afternoon.
Highs: 14-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mainly sunny with south to southwesterly winds, some cloud especially in the morning about the ranges to the west.
Highs: 10-14

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy with a few showers, clearing in the evening for most although continuing overnight about Gisborne. Breezy cool southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Wellington

Cloudy periods, chance of a shower. Southerly winds die out in the evening.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson

Mainly sunny with light winds.
High: 13-14

Canterbury

A cloudy morning for Canterbury then sunny spells increase from afternoon, southwesterly winds die out in the evening.
Highs: 10-12

West Coast

Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 12-14

Southland & Otago

Chance of a morning shower then sunny spells break through in the afternoon, Central Otago has sunnier weather for much of the day. Westerly winds.
Highs: 10-12
