A large high covers most of New Zealand on Thursday, a southeasterly airflow for the upper North Island eases during the day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with light to moderate southeasterly winds. Northland sees some cloud at times especially along the east coast, perhaps even the low risk of a shower or two in the east also.
Highs: 21-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Sunny with east to southeasterly winds, easing during the afternoon and perhaps tending onshore.
Highs: 21-24

Eastern North Island

Morning cloud about the Wairarapa breaks to a mostly sunny afternoon. Hawkes Bay sees morning drizzle clear, cloud doesn’t break till later in the day. Gisborne has a mainly cloudy day with the odd shower or drizzle patch through much of the day. Winds from the south or southeast, tending northeast in the afternoon about the Wairarapa.

Wellington

Sunny with light winds.
High: 20

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with afternoon north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 21-24

Canterbury

Mainly sunny weather with light east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 21-23

West Coast

Any morning cloud clears to mostly sunny weather, light winds.
Highs: 19-24

Southland & Otago

Any morning cloud clears to a mainly sunny day, warm during the afternoon inland. Light winds, tending east to northeast about coastal Otago.
Highs: 20-27
