A southeasterly airflow eases over the North Island today, meanwhile a front within this flow moves off to the northeast. The South Island has high pressure and a northeasterly airflow along the east coast, westerlies in the west.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Morning showers clear, rain about eastern Northland, Coromandel and Great Barrier Island may be heavy then easing and clearing by midday. Cloud breaks in the afternoon. Breezy east to southeasterly winds, winds strong about some exposed northeastern coastal areas this morning then easing.
Highs: 21-23

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

High cloud clearing to mostly sunny weather by midday, breezy east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-22

Eastern North Island

Showers ease to drizzle this morning, clearing in the evening. The Wairarapa is mainly dry. Breezy southeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-18

Wellington

Sunny spells with southeasterly winds.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with easterly winds about Marlborough, afternoon northeasterlies about Nelson.
Highs: 18-19

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, east to northeasterly winds becoming brisk in the afternoon near the coast.
High: 18

West Coast

Mostly sunny with some developing high cloud, light winds tend westerly in the afternoon. Overnight showers move into South Westland.
Highs: 19-21

Southland & Otago

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, light north to northeasterly winds for most although winds becoming brisk about the Otago coast.
Highs: 17-22
