A westerly airflow lies over the North Island today while a low pressure system moves over the upper South Island this afternoon / evening. More settled for the lower South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy areas and occasional sun, cloud more frequent about the Waikato. Westerly winds.
Highs: 21-25
 
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy with patchy rain or showers, west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 17-20
 
Eastern North Island
Mostly cloudy about the Wairarapa with the odd spot of rain, further north expect sunny spells however a few isolated showers possible late afternoon / evening. Winds generally tending northwest however about coastal Hawkes Bay and Gisborne expect afternoon east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 21-24
 
Wellington
Cloudy with patchy showers or some rain for a time, northerly winds.
High: 17
 
Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly cloudy with patchy showers or some rain moving in this afternoon then clearing overnight. Light northerlies.
High: 17-18
 
Canterbury
Mostly cloudy with east to northeasterly winds, some rain moving in this afternoon more so Banks Peninsula northwards with only a light shower or two further south. Rain may be heavy for a time late afternoon / evening then clearing overnight.
Highs: 15-16
 
West Coast
Mostly cloudy with rain moving in north of about Hokitika by midday, rain may be heavy then easing later this evening. Variable winds.
Highs: 15-17
 
Southland & Otago
Sunny spells with light winds, low risk of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening about inland areas. Coastal Otago fairly cloudy with east to northeast winds.
Highs: 14-21
