Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Showers turning to rain late morning, becoming heavy, then rain easing to showers in the afternoon. Showers may be squally and heavy at times with a risk of thunder, mainly in the west, then easing by evening. Gusty northwesterly winds change westerly later in the afternoon.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Rain, possibly heavy with thunderstorms ,then easing during the afternoon. Showers may be heavy again overnight with a risk of hail. Snow lowering to 700m overnight about the Central Plateau. Gusty west to northwesterly winds strong about Taranaki.
Highs: 12-15
Eastern North Island
Thick high cloud with a few spots of rain moving through in the afternoon, gusty northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-17
Wellington
Morning rain mostly clears, although the odd shower may remain through the afternoon. Sunny spells by midday. Strong to gale Nor’West winds.
High: 14
Marlborough & Nelson
Some morning rain clears then mostly sunny by midday, with winds gusty from the west or northwest.
Highs: 14-16
Canterbury
Sunny areas and some high cloud, with some early rain about the foothills clearing away. Gusty northwesterly winds, especially about North Canterbury. A few late evening spots of rain possible.
High: 15
West Coast
Early heavy rain and thunderstorms ease to showers, becoming heavy again in the evening with thunderstorms once again. Gusty westerly winds becoming strong overnight from the southwest.
Highs: 10-12
Southland & Otago
Morning showers clear, then expect sunny spells, and showers again from evening with snow flurries lowering to 300m overnight. Dunedin northwards along the coast may remain dry overnight, however. Northwesterlies tend strong cold west to southwest overnight.
