A north to northeasterly airflow lies over New Zealand today. Fairly cloudy for most regions with rain or showers or many western regions, mainly dry out east although there may be a spot of rain or two about.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Early rain easing to the odd shower about Northland and Auckland, the odd shower / drizzle patch for much of the day elsewhere although picking up and turning to rain in the evening about the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty. Northeasterly winds (strong Auckland northwards) ease after midday.
Highs: 19-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Plenty of high cloud, the odd spot of rain possible otherwise mainly dry. The Central North Island sees drizzle patches for much of the day then rain in the evening. Northeasterly winds, fairly breezy about Taranaki.
Highs: 16-18

Eastern North Island

Plenty of high cloud, perhaps the odd spot of rain at times otherwise mainly dry. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-20

Wellington

Mostly cloudy with a few showers late afternoon / evening, northerly winds.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson

Thick high cloud, a few spots of rain move through late afternoon / evening about Marlborough. Nelson sees cloudy skies with rain from mid morning. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-17

Canterbury

Plenty of high cloud with north to northeasterly winds, a few spots of rain possible afternoon and evening.
Highs: 15-17

West Coast

Rain with a chance of heavy falls, northeasterly winds tend more northerly later in the day.
Highs: 14-15

Southland & Otago

Early spots of rain clear Southland however perhaps hanging about Otago till evening, after rain clears sun breaks through. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-16
