An anticyclone slowly moves away to the east today while a northeasterly airflow becomes more established over New Zealand.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, eastern Northland sees cloud a little thicker from afternoon with the a few showers possible midday on wards otherwise mostly dry. Northeasterly winds a little breezy at times Auckland northwards.
Highs: 21-23

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with high cloud increasing during the day. Light winds for most, north to northeasterly winds about Taranaki.
Highs: 19-22

Eastern North Island

Any morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, areas of high cloud do increase however from afternoon. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-20

Wellington

Mostly sunny with some increasing high cloud, light northerly winds.
High: 21

Marlborough & Nelson

High cloud thickens from morning so a fairly cloudy day on the way, there may be some sun initially in the morning. Overnight showers for Nelson. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 20-22

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with some increasing high cloud, northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-20

West Coast

Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, showers develop in the afternoon south of about Hokitika then spreading northwards overnight. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-20

Southland & Otago

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, a few spits of rain from late afternoon or evening about Southland and inland Otago. Light east to northeast winds.
Highs: 17-19
