A ridge of high pressure lies over the upper North Island today while the rest of the country is covered in a northwesterly airflow.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with light winds in the morning, afternoon Sea Breezes. A chance of low cloud or fog morning and night about inland areas.
Highs: 26-27

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Sunny areas after morning cloud breaks up a little, mostly sunny by afternoon about Tarakani and the Central North Island. West to northwesterly breezes.
Highs: 23-25

Eastern North Island

A sunny day with light winds, afternoon east to northeast breezes near the coast.
Highs: 29-31

Wellington

Mostly sunny, winds brisk from the North.
High: 24

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, breezy west to northwesterly winds (more northerly about Nelson in the afternoon). Hot!
Highs: 27-32

Canterbury

Thick high cloud with northwesterly winds, gusty inland at first. A change to southerlies in the afternoon brings lower level cloud. There may be a patchy evening shower about South Canterbury for a time before clearing.
High: 29

West Coast

Cloudy with spells of rain, rain mainly about Greymouth southwards then easing in the evening. West to northwest winds.
Highs: 21-24

Southland & Otago

Early rain eases then expect the odd shower with cool southwesterly winds, a few spells of rain may move back through in the evening as winds tend more northerly.
Highs: 17-22
