A cold southwesterly airflow eases over the country later today, still fairly unsettled for much of the North Island for the whole of today while the South Island sees easing conditions earlier on.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Showers and occasional sunny spells, brisk westerly winds. Showers clear later on.
Highs: 15-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Showers, some heavy ease from afternoon then clear in the evening. West to southwest winds.
Highs: 13-15

Eastern North Island

Showers about the Wairarapa push further north in the afternoon with a cold southwest change. Expect high cloud before the southwest change moves through with northwest winds.
Highs: 14-16

Wellington

Showers with potential heavy falls then easing later in the afternoon, gusty southerly winds.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson

Patchy morning rain clears then sunny areas develop in the afternoon, Nelson is mostly sunny from morning. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Canterbury

Rain eases to showers around midday which clear in the afternoon, gusty southwesterly winds.
High: 10

West Coast

Any early cloud clears to sunny weather, southeasterly winds..
High: 15

Southland & Otago

Mostly cloudy with the odd brief shower at times but expect long dry areas too. Northern parts of Central Otago sees sunny areas develop in the morning, remaining fairly dry apart from any early clearing showers. Cold southwesterly winds.
Highs: 8-10
