A ridge lies over the North Island today bringing mainly settled weather, cloud and the odd light shower for exposed northeastern parts however. Generally sunny over the South Island too with a northwesterly airflow building, winds right on the east coast are more likely to be east to northeast however.

Auckland & Northland
Morning cloud breaks to a few sunny areas about Auckland with easterly winds, chance of a shower or two in the north. About Northland and the Coromandel easterlies bring slightly cloudier skies with the chance of a shower or two more likely during the day.

Waikato, Central North Island & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with light east to northeast winds. About the Bay Of Plenty
cloud looks to be a little more frequent during the day.
Highs: 23-26

Eastern North Island

Morning cloud clears to mostly sunny weather about the Wairarapa, cloud may
linger a little more about Hawkes Bay into the afternoon and Gisborne looks
likely to see cloudy skies all day with the odd light shower / drizzle patch.
Winds from the east or northeast.
Highs: 21-22

Western North Island

Mostly sunny with light winds in the morning tending westerly in the
afternoon, a few harmless clouds.
High: 23-25

Wellington

Sunny with northerly winds.
High: 22

Nelson

Sunny with light winds in the morning then afternoon northerly winds.
Highs: 22-23

Marlborough

Sunny with light winds in the morning, afternoon northerlies.
Highs: 26

Canterbury

Sunny with east to northeast breezes near the coast, northwesterly winds
build inland. Naturally temperatures near the coast will be a bit cooler, still
warm though in the mid 20’s. Getting to 27 just inland.
Highs: 24-27

West Coast

Mostly sunny with gentle west to southwest breezes north of the glaciers,
cloud increases about Fiordland with northeasterly winds then a few patchy
showers move in this afternoon turning to rain later in the evening.
Highs: 20-22

Coastal Otago

Mainly sunny. Cooler near the coast with gentle northeasterlies, warmer
inland with a northwest influence. A late evening SW change brings cloud.
High: 24

Central Otago

Sunny with northwesterly winds, picking up afternoon / evening. Overnight
winds change southerly bringing a few showers.
Highs: 23-24

Southland

Mostly sunny with increasing northwesterly winds, gusty at times from late
afternoon. Late evening winds change southwest bringing a few showers.
High: 24
