A northerly airflow increases over the South Island today while the North Island sits under a weak area of low pressure. Plenty of cloud about for the South Island with morning drizzle clearing in the east, isolated showers possible late afternoon / evening for some inland North Island areas.

Northland

Mostly sunny with light southeasterlies developing in the east, light southwesterlies in the west.

Highs: 26-27

Auckland

Mostly sunny with light winds this morning, afternoon sea breezes. Chance
of an evening isolated shower in the south otherwise dry.

High: 27

Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with light winds tending northeasterly this afternoon. Chance
of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening inland.

Highs: 25-26

Waikato

Mostly sunny with light winds, chance of an isolated shower late afternoon
/ evening otherwise dry.

High: 29

Central North Island

Sunny areas and some cloud with light winds, cloud building a little in the
afternoon. Late afternoon / evening there could be a few isolated showers then
clearing overnight.

Highs: 26-27

Eastern North Island

Morning drizzle clearing, cloud breaks to sunny areas this afternoon.
Breezy northeasterly winds.

Highs: 23-24

Taranaki

Mostly sunny with light winds this morning, afternoon westerlies. Warmer
weather inland.

Highs: 23-26

Western North Island

Sunny areas and some cloud, easterly winds. Low risk of an isolated shower
late afternoon / evening mainly inland.

Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas this afternoon, northerly winds.

Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas and high cloud, light winds tending
northerly by midday.

Marlborough

Any early cloud breaks to sunny areas and high cloud, light winds tending
northeasterly by midday.

Highs: 25-26

Canterbury

Cloudy this morning with any drizzle clearing, a few sunny spells may break
through this afternoon. Gusty northeasterly winds ease later today.

West Coast

Sunny areas and high cloud with northerly winds developing by midday,
showers move into Fiordland this afternoon then turning to rain this evening.
Warmest weather about inland Buller.

Coastal Otago

Any early drizzle clears this morning, mostly cloudy although a few sunny
areas are possible this afternoon. Gusty northeasterly winds. Later this evening
/ overnight a few spots of rain move in.

High: 21

Central Otago

Sunny areas and high cloud with northerly winds, a few spots of rain
possible in the evening.

Highs: 22-23

Southland

Plenty of high cloud with northeasterly winds, a few spots of rain in the
evening.

Highs: 23-24
