The weather settles down plenty today and in good time, a southwesterly airflow eases over the country while an anticyclone sits in the Tasman Sea. East to northeast winds pick up along the South Island’s east coast this afternoon.

Northland

A few morning showers clear then sunny areas increase, south to southwesterly winds.

High: 23

Auckland

Early showers clear then sunny areas develop, southwesterly winds.

High: 23

Bay Of Plenty

Early morning showers clear then mostly sunny, westerly quarter
winds.

High: 26

Waikato

Any early showers clear then expect mostly sunny weather, southwesterly
winds.

High: 24

Central North Island

Any early showers clear to mostly sunny weather, southwesterly winds ease
in the evening.

High: 23-24

Eastern North Island

Early showers clear the Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay then sunny areas develop,
southerly winds. Showers don’t clear the Gisborne area till around midday.

Highs: 22-23

Taranaki

Becoming mostly sunny this morning, southwesterly winds.

Highs: 21-22

Western North Island

Becoming mostly sunny this morning, westerlies tend southerly this
afternoon.

High: 23

Wellington

Mostly sunny weather with winds changing southerly this morning.

High: 19

Nelson

Sunny with southwesterlies easing this morning, winds tend northerly this
afternoon.

High: 21

Marlborough

Sunny with southerlies this morning then afternoon easterly winds.

Highs: 19-21

Canterbury

Chance of an early shower (mainly coastal) any of which clear then becoming
mostly sunny, southwesterlies this morning tend easterly this afternoon.
Easterlies pick up near the coast, light winds inland about the foothills.

High: 19-20

West Coast

Chance of an early shower then expect sunny areas and some cloud with WSW
winds.

Highs: 18-21

Coastal Otago

Mostly sunny, westerlies die away in the morning. Afternoon northeasterlies
develop.

High: 19

Central Otago

Mostly sunny with west to northwest breezes.

Highs: 21-23

Southland

Mostly sunny with west to northwest winds.

Highs: 19-20
