A north to northwesterly airflow freshens over New Zealand today, especially the South Island. Most regions are dry although some rain gradually moves into a few southern parts of the country

Sunny areas and some cloud, increasing from evening. Light northerlies.

Waikato & Central North Island
Mostly sunny with light northerly winds, cloud increases in the
evening.

Eastern North Island
Sunny with northeasterly breezes tending northwest in the evening.
Highs: 20-22
Western North Island
Mostly sunny with north to northwesterly winds, cloud increases late
afternoon / evening.
Sunny spells with freshening northerly winds, becoming cloudy in the
evening.
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, cloud thickens and lowers in the evening
then some patchy rain moves in overnight. Northeasterly winds freshen in the
afternoon.
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, thickening later in the evening.
Northwesterlies becoming gusty in the afternoon.
Sunny areas and some high cloud, brisk northerlies winds inland then
picking up in the afternoon near the coast becoming a little gusty at times. A
few spells of rain move through overnight mainly inland about the
foothills.
Cloudy or becoming cloudy in the morning, northeasterly winds freshen.
Drizzle about South Westland from early afternoon turning to rain in the
evening, rain spreads into North Westland during the evening also.

Coastal Otago
Sunny areas and high cloud with north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-19
Central Otago
High cloud with freshening northerlies, the odd spot of rain west of the
Southern Lakes area. Later in the evening rain becomes more widespread in the
west of the district.
Plenty of high cloud with north to northeasterly winds.
High: 18
