A slight calm spell in amoungst this westerly influenced weather today, still it won’t last long as a trough moves into the western North Island this afternoon / evening bringing showers. Eastern regions do the best today with sunny weather looking likely although expect some clearing morning rain about the North Islands east coast.

Northland
Early showers clear with a few sunny areas developing, westerlies. Further showers move through later in the afternoon (mainly in the west) then ease
evening as westerlies freshen.
Highs: 18-19

Auckland

Early rain clears with sunny spells developing, northeasterlies tend
northwest. Late afternoon further showers move in then easing later in the
evening as northwesterlies change southwest.
High: 18

Bay Of Plenty

Heavy rain, clearing late morning as brisk northeasterlies easing. Sunny
areas develop in the afternoon with winds tending northwest, a few showers may
move through again later in the evening for a brief time.
High: 19

Waikato & Central North Island
Rain, possibly heavy then clearing by mid morning with
northeasterlies easing. Sunny spells then develop with light northwesterlies, in
the evening further showers move in then clearing overnight.

Highs: 15-17

Eastern North Island

Morning rain with northerly winds, clearing around midday. Sunny areas
increase in the afternoon with light winds. Later in the evening a few further
showers move into Wairarapa and southern Hawkes Bay.
Highs: 19-20

Taranaki

Morning sunny spells with northwesterly winds, showers develop late
afternoon. Some rain for a time in the evening then clearing around midnight
with a southwest change.
High: 16

Western North Island

Morning sunny spells, some rain moves in late afternoon then clears around
midnight. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-17

Wellington

Sunny spells at first, a few showers move through in the afternoon. Brisk
northerly winds.
High: 14

Nelson

Sunny spells with northwesterly winds, easing early in the morning. Cloud
thickens later in the evening with a brief shower possible.
Highs: 14-15

Marlborough

Mostly sunny with northwesterlies easing in the morning, some high cloud,
mainly later in the day.
High: 17

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light northwesterlies.
High: 16

West Coast

Showers with north to northwesterly winds.

Coastal Otago

Sunny with some high cloud, light winds.
High: 13

Central Otago

Mostly sunny with northwesterly winds, chance of a shower around mid to
late morning west of the Southern Lakes area.

Southland

Mostly sunny with northwesterly winds, easing from afternoon.
