A ridge lies over the North Island today bringing mainly settled and sunny weather with light winds. For the South Island the airflow is northwesterly then easing later in the day, high cloud out east with rain in the west.

Northland
Sunny spells and periods of cloud, cloud a little thicker out east with the chance of a light shower now and then. Easterlies.
Highs: 18-19

Auckland

Sunny spells and increasing cloud with light northeasterlies, chance of a
light shower in the north.
Highs: 18-19

Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy areas with the chance of a light shower, mainly in the west of the district. Light winds.
High: 16-17

Waikato & Central North Island

Sunny with light winds, overnight fog possible.
Highs: 13-16

Eastern North Island

Sunny with light winds, any early cloud clears Gisborne.
High: 17

Western North Island

Sunny spells with light north to northwesterly winds, cloud thickens a
little in the evneing.
Highs: 15-16

Wellington

Mostly cloudy with breezy north to northwesterly winds, the odd brief spit
of rain possible at times otherwise dry.
Highs: 14-15

Nelson

Becoming mostly cloudy in the morning, northwesterly winds. A few brief
spots of rain possible at times, mainly overnight.
Highs: 15

Marlborough

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, light winds at first then breezy
northwesterlies from midday.
High: 18

Canterbury

Areas of high cloud with northerly winds, odd spot of rain possible PM. A
late evening southerly change brings increasing cloud and overnight
drizzle.
Highs: 16-17

West Coast

Rain with northerly winds.
High: 14

Coastal Otago

High cloud with light winds, a late afternoon southerly change brings
increasing cloud. Late evening drizzle.
High: 16

Central Otago

High cloud with light northwesterlies. About the Southern Lakes area and
west of there expect cloudy spells and the odd shower at times spreading from
the west, long dry spells too. Winds tend southerly later in the evening or
around midnight with patchy rain for most.
Highs: 11-12
Southland
Cloudy with northerly winds, the odd spit of rain possible. Late afternoon
winds change southerly with patchy rain.
High: 13
