A ridge spreads over the South Island today bringing mostly sunny weather, some morning cloud slwoly breaks away in the east however. For the North Island a low to the east brings showers along the east coast, out west conditons are improving although the odd shower may hang about Auckland and Northland during the day (mainly in the west).

Sunny spells and the odd passing shower (mainly in the west) which clear late afternoon, southwesterly winds.
High: 17-19

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island

Mostly sunny with south to southeasterly winds easing from afternoon, east
of Lake Taupo expect some cloud and the odd shower spreading from the
east.
Highs: 13-17

Eastern North Island

Rain easing to showers by midday, cool southerlies.
Highs: 14-15

Western North Island

Morning showers clear then sunny areas develop in the afternoon, southerly
winds. About northern Taranaki skies will be mostly sunny from morning,
southeasterly winds.
High: 15

Wellington

A few remaining morning showers clear, skies fairly cloudy with a few clear
spells appearing later in the day. Southerly winds.
High: 12

Nelson

Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 14-15

Marlborough

Becoming mostly sunny in the morning, light winds tend southerly.
High: 15-16

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks away to a mostly sunny afternoon, southwesterly winds
die out by evening.

West Coast

Sunny with light winds.

Coastal Otago

Becoming mostly sunny in the morning with southwesterlies dying out before
midday.

Central Otago

Sunny with light winds, cold morning and night.

Becoming sunny early this morning, light northwesterlies.
