An anticyclone sits to the north of New Zealand today while a gentle north to northwesterly airflow lies over the country. Eastern areas of the country remain dry today while out west some will see rain or showers.

Northland
Sunny in the morning, some afternoon cloud with a few showers possible especially in the south then clearing evening. Light west to northwest winds.
Highs: 20-21

Auckland

Sunny areas and increasing cloud with light northwesterlies. Some rain
developing mid afternoon with a westerly change then easing in the
evening.
High: 20

Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas and increasing cloud with light northwesterlies. Some rain
developing mid to late afternoon then clearing in the evening with a westerly
change.
High: 20

Waikato & Central North Island

Becoming cloudy in the morning, rain develops around midday then eases to
the odd shower late afternoon or early evening as northwesterly breezes tend
more westerly.
Highs: 17-20

Eastern North Island

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, a few spots of rain in the afternoon
spreading from the west then clearing. Northwesterly breezes.
Highs: 20-22

Western North Island

Fairly cloudy with the odd brief shower now and then dry spells too, rain
more likely about Taranaki during the day with the chance of a heavy fall in the
morning. Northwesterly winds tend more westerly in the afternoon.
High: 18

Wellington

Cloudy with the odd shower, clearing early afternoon. Cloud breaking mid to
late afternoon. Northerly winds ease in the morning.
High: 17

Nelson

A few morning showers clear then becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon,
light winds tend northerly around midday.
Highs: 18-19

Marlborough

A few early spots of rain clear, high cloud decreases to become mostly
sunny in the afternoon. Light winds.
Highs: 19-20

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells and high cloud, light winds at first
then afternoon easterlies. Northwesterly winds freshen inland overnight.
Highs: 15-17

West Coast

Cloudy with patchy showers or drizzle, there may be a few isolated areas of
rain about. Light northerlies. More widespread rain moves into Fiordland later
in the evening or overnight with northerlies increasing.
High: 17

Coastal Otago

Mostly cloudy with northeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Central Otago

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, light winds tend northerly in the
afternoon.
Highs: 16-17

Southland

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, light northerlies tend more easterly
in the afternoon. Overnight there could be a few spots of rain.
Highs: 14-15
