A cool southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, expect showers at some point in time for most western regions throughout the country. Some rain this morning eases to showers south of Banks Peninsula along the east coast.

Auckland & Northland
Cloudy spells with west to southwest breezes, a little brisk during the afternoon about Auckland. Chance of a shower now and then also.
Highs: 22-24

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy spells with westerly breezes, the odd shower possible mainly during
the morning. The Bay Of Plenty sees long sunny spells in the afternoon.
Highs: 21-24

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with some high cloud possible. Light winds for most with
afternoon easterlies for a time about Hawkes Bay.
Highs: 24-26

Western North Island

Cloudy spells with westerlies, winds a little breezy at times. Watch for
the risk of a brief shower now and then, mainly about Taranaki.
Highs: 20-21

Wellington

Any early showers clearing then expect mostly sunny weather, southerlies
dying out early on then northerly winds freshen from midday.
High: 20

Nelson

Sunny with southwesterly winds in the morning tending a little more
westerly in the afternoon.
High: 23

Marlborough

Any early cloud clears to sunny weather, light westerlies in the morning
then winds tend northwest in the afternoon.
High: 25

Canterbury

Early morning rain or showers clear, mainly Banks Peninsula southwards then
sunny spells increase with light winds. Late afternoon or evening winds tend
southerly again with increasing cloud and the odd showers / drizzle patch moving in,
mainly Banks Peninsula southwards once again.
Highs: 21-23

West Coast

Cloudy periods with the odd shower, west to southwest breezes.
Highs: 17-18

Coastal Otago

Morning rain eases to occasional showers, brisk west to southwest
winds.
High: 16

Central Otago

Occasional showers with cool south to southwesterly breezes.
Highs: 18-20

Southland

Periods of rain with brisk west to southwest breezes.
High: 14
