A west to northwest airflow lies over the North Island today, mainly dry till later in the evening or overnight a front moves onto the lower North Island. For the South Island this front will make it’s way north during the day bringing rain or showers to most regions as it moves north.

Northland
Mostly sunny with southwesterly breezes, cloud thickens later in the
evening.
Highs: 24-25

Auckland

Sunny spells and westerly breezes, westerlies pick up in the afternoon
becoming brisk with cloud increasing also. The odd shower possible later in the
evening or overnight.
Highs: 22-23

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of
Plenty

Cloudy periods with sunny areas at times, westerly winds increase during
the day. About the Bay Of Plenty expect mostly sunny weather. Cloud thickens in
the evening for all with the odd light shower then possible about the Waikato
and Central North Island.
Highs: 22-24

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with northwesterlies breezes, picking up in the afternoon
possibly becoming gusty. Some high cloud develops about the Wairarapa in the
afternoon then in the evening further north. Southerlies push into the Wairarapa
overnight with a brief shower or two.
Highs: 28-31

Western North Island

Sunny spells at first with brisk northwesterlies, strong at times late afternoon
onwards. Winds tend more westerly about Taranaki. Cloud thickens in the afternoon with the odd spit of rain possible then overnight a few showers move though.
Highs: 20-22

Wellington

Sunny spells at first with strong northerly breezes, risk of winds gusting to gale
force at times afternoon onwards with skies becoming mostly cloudy. Overnight winds change southerly with a brief
shower possible.
Highs: 22

Nelson

Sunny with southwesterly breezes at first, high cloud from midday as winds
start to tend a little more northwest. In the evening a few spots of rain are
possible then clearing overnight.
Highs: 23-24

Marlborough

Mostly sunny with northwesterly winds, high cloud increases from midday.
Later in the evening a southwest change may bring a brief shower or two
otherwise remaining mostly dry.
Highs: 27- 28

Canterbury

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, northwesterly winds. A late
afternoon southwest change brings showers, some may be briefly heavy.
Highs: 27-28

West Coast

Cloudy with the odd shower turning to rain around midday, west to northwest
winds increase. Rain eases to showers late afternoon or evening with a southwest
change, showers clear around midnight.
High: 18-19

Coastal Otago

High cloud in the morning with light winds, a gusty southwest change late
morning brings some rain then quickly easing to showers and sunny spells later
in the afternoon. Southwesterlies may gust to gale force at times on the coast
from evening.
Highs: 19-20

Central Otago

Morning rain develops with westerly winds, rain eases to showers around
midday then clearing afternoon with a southwest change. Sunny breaks develop
into the afternoon also.
Highs: 18-20

Southland

Some morning rain then easing to the odd shower and sunny spell after
midday, gusty west to southwest winds.
High: 16
