Easing conditions over the South Island today with sunny areas making an apparence in many regions, the North Island sees unstable conditions move over which could lead to thunderstorms and hail for some.

Isolated showers in the west, spreading to most places around midday with a heavy fall or two possible then easing. Any remaining showers clear in the evening. Expect sunny spells at times too, southwesterly winds tend southerly at night.

& Bay Of Plenty
Isolated showers, especially towards midday. In the afternoon showers may
be heavy with thunderstorms and hail then clearing in the evening as west to
southwest winds tend more southerly.

Eastern North Island
Showers about Wairarapa spread into the Hawkes Bay and Gisborne this
morning with cool southerlies, the odd heavy fall is possible. Showers then
clear for most during the evening and Gisborne overnight.

Western North Island
Occasional showers, easing afternoon and clearing by evening. A few sunny
spells sneak through at times from midday. Cool southerlies die out
overnight.
A few morning showers clearing around midday, sunny spells then increase in
the afternoon. Brisk southerlies.

Nelson & Kaiteriteri
Chance of an early shower otherwise expect mostly sunny weather with light
winds and afternoon sea breezes. Late afternoon and evening however isolated
showers develop mainly about the ranges then clearing before midnight.
Sunny spells with southerly breezes, chance of a late afternoon or evening
isolated shower mainly inland.
Early showers clear near most coastal areas however hang about Banks
Peninsula till afternoon. Where showers clear expect sunny areas to then
increase, cool southwesterlies die out later in the evening.
Mostly sunny with light winds tending southwesterly right on the coastline,
chance of an isolated shower late afternoon and evening about Buller otherwise
mainly dry.

Coastal Otago
The odd shower clearing around midday, cloudy spells with a few sunny areas
possible this afternoon. Cool southwesterlies tend more westerly by
evening.
Sunny areas increasing from this morning, becoming mostly sunny in the
afternoon. Southerly winds die out in the evening.
Mostly cloudy with cool west to southwest winds, the odd shower at times
mainly from midday.
