A front pushes onto the North Island overnight bringing showers for most, out east showers may only be brief. For the South Island a very cold southwesterly airflow pushes into the lower South Island overnight bringing a risk of snow to sea level.

Auckland & Northland
Fairly cloudy with the odd light shower, west to northwest winds. Later this evening / overnight more persistent showers move in, winds change southwest
overnight.

Bay Of Plenty

Fairly cloudy with westerly winds, a few showers move through overnight
with a southwest change.
Tonight’s Low: 8

Waikato & Central North Island

Mostly cloudy with the odd light shower, some rain moves in later this
evening with northwesterly winds. Easing to showers overnight then clearing with
a westerly change.
Tonight’s Lows: 3-6

Eastern North Island

Increasing high cloud this evening with gusty northwesterlies, winds change
more westerly this evening about the Wairarapa bringing a few showers. A few
showers may make it further north as the westerly change moves through.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-8

Western North Island

Mostly cloudy with some rain moving through this evening then clearing
overnight, strong northwesterlies tend more westerly overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-8

Wellington

Areas of rain clearing later this evening, strong to gale northwesterlies
ease a little overnight with clear spells developing.
Tonight’s Low: 7

Nelson

Rain clearing this evening, clear spells overnight with west to southwest
winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 5-6

Marlborough

High cloud with any spots of rain clearing this evening, mainly clear skies
develop overnight. Westerly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 4-5

Canterbury

Mainly clear skies with westerly winds, becoming frosty for some in
sheltered areas with no wind this evening. Overnight southwesterlies freshen
about South Canterbury then move further north around dawn tomorrow bringing a
period of showers, showers may be briefly heavy with some small hail and snow
flurries to 300m.
Tonight’s Lows: 0-2

West Coast

Showers, some heavy with possible hail, gusty westerlies tend southwest
overnight. Snow flurries to 600m lowering to 400m overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 3-4

Coastal Otago

Clear spells this evening with westerly winds, winds tend strong southwest
overnight with wintry showers moving in. Possibly heavy at times with hail, snow
flurries lowering to near sea level by dawn tomorrow.
Tonight’s Low: 2

Central Otago

Showers, especially about the Southern Lakes area and west of there,
westerly winds. Winds tend southwest overnight with showers becoming a little
more widspread, snow flurries lowering to low levels.
Tonight’s Low: -2

Southland

Showers, heavy at times with a risk of hail. Snow flurries to 400m this
evening. Gusty westerlies tend southwest overnight with snow lowering to near
sea level.
