A ridge keeps conditions mainly settled for the North Island tonight, a chance of fog for inland areas however. For the South Island, expect rain in the west while out east there is high cloud. A weak southerly works it’s way north along the east coast this evening bringing cloud and the odd drizzle patch however, mainly south of about Banks Peninsula.

Northland
Clear spells and areas of cloud, cloud a little thicker out east with the chance of a light shower now and then. Easterlies.

Auckland

Periods of cloud with light northeasterlies, chance of a shower in the
north otherwise dry.
Tonight’s Low: 9

Bay Of Plenty

Periods of cloud with light winds tending easterly or northeast, chance of
a light shower near the coast.
Tonight’s Low: 8-9

Waikato & Central North Island

Mainly clear skies although there could be some overnight fog, light
winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 2-4

Eastern North Island

Clear skies with light winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 5-6

Western North Island

Some cloud with light northwesterly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 6-7

Wellington

Mostly cloudy with breezy northwesterlies, the odd brief spit of rain
possible at times otherwise dry.
Tonight’s Low: 12

Nelson

Mostly cloudy with northwesterlies, the odd spot of rain possible
especially overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 9

Marlborough

High cloud with northwesterlies easing.
Tonight’s Low: 7

Canterbury

High cloud with light winds tending northerly or northwest, later this
evening or around midnight winds change southerly bringing the chance of a light
shower.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-8

West Coast

Rain with north to northeasterly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-11

Coastal Otago

Southerlies with increasing cloud, later this evening patchy drizzle moves
in.
Tonight’s Low: 8

Central Otago

High cloud with light winds. About the Southern Lakes area and west of
there expect cloudy spells and the odd shower at times spreading from the west,
long dry spells too. Winds tend southerly later this evening or around midnight
with patchy drizzle for most.
Tonight’s Lows: 5-7

Southland

Cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle, south to southwesterly winds.
Tonight’s Low: 6
