High pressure is coming for New Zealand bringing much drier weather to the country, lighter winds, and a lift in temperatures by day.
A south-west airflow coves most of the country today though – just ahead of the high pressure zone. This will bringing further showers – but they will be isolated, faster moving than previous days and bringing lower totals.
By Friday high pressure moves in – and covers nearly all of the country for the weekend. Southern NZ is most at risk of lingering showers and cloud. There will also be cooler air in the very south.
Meanwhile Tropical Cyclone JASPER has formed near the Solomon Islands. It poses no direct threat to NZ due to powerful high pressure zones. Queensland is most at risk.
