The last of the wind – The Big Picture on Friday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A strong southerly airflow sits over parts of the North Island, though this should ease during the day – leaving a calmer and more settled start to the weekend for most.

It’s looking mostly sunny in the west of the North Island, while some showers stiack around in the east, from Gisborne to Wairarapa.
Strong southerly winds blow from the Cook Strait area up along the East Coast, though these ease as the day goes on.

In the South Island, meanwhile, mainly sunny weather dominates, with light winds, after a cold and possibly frosty start to the day.
