The Big Picture on Monday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A low pressure system looks to brush northeastern parts of the North Island tomorrow morning then quickly slinks away to the southeast during the afternoon and evening. Meanwhile a weakening front moves northwards over the South Island.

For the North Island tomorrow we see rain or showers affecting Northland then down and across on an angle to Gisborne. Possible heavy rain and strong southerlies affecting Northland mainly in the morning then Gisborne from afternoon.

For the rest of the North Island it’s mainly sunny south of about Napier in the east with some high cloud. Some cloud and the chance of a shower out west.

The South Island sees mostly cloudy conditions in the west with showers, easing in the afternoon and clearing evening. For the east coast conditions are mainly dry and sunny with some high cloud then a southwest change works its way through Otago in the afternoon, reaching Canterbury by evening, bringing cloudy areas and a light shower or two.
