Sunday’s national forecast – Front in the far south

> From the WeatherWatch archives

High pressure covers most of New Zealand today however we do have a front moving onto the lower South Island from afternoon.

North Island

A few morning mist or fog patches then mostly sunny, some afternoon cloud about inland hills / ranges may bring an isolated shower especially Waikato and perhaps Auckland. Light winds then afternoon sea breezes.

South Island

Some cloud in the west with a few showers, rain moves into Fiordland around midday then easing in the evening. Buller is dry with a mix of sun and cloud. Dry for Southland at first then afternoon rain with winds changing southwest, rain clears evening. Elsewhere for the South Island is mostly sunny but expect some high cloud, very warm afternoon temperatures in the east. Winds mostly from the northwest however along the eastern coastal fringe winds could tend east to northeast. During the course of the evening southerly winds push up the east coast bringing some cloud.
