Upper North Island
For the Central North Island, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Auckland. Any morning showers clear then expect sunny spells and some cloud with southwest breezes. For Northland expect cloudy spells with the odd shower at times, southwesterlies there also.

Lower North Island
Sunny spells and some cloud with south to southeasterly breezes. Along the east coast expect rain with east to southeast winds. Wellington will be mostly cloudy with only the odd shower at times, dry spells there too.

Upper South Island
Cloudy along the east coast north of Banks Peninsula with patchy rain or drizzle, easterly breezes. Cloudy for Nelson with the odd shower at times, dry spells too with light easterlies. For the West Coast expect sunny weather with some high cloud and east to northeast winds.

Lower South Island
For areas south of Banks Peninsula in the east expect patchy rain or drizzle with brisk east to northeasterly winds. Southland and Central Otago can expect cloudy areas but also some sunshine at times, northeasterly winds. For the West Coast south of Hokitika expect fine weather with some high cloud and east to northeast winds. Cloud thickens about Fiordland a little in the evening with a shower or two possible at night.
