Westerlies continue over the country but turn south to south west later in the day. Showers continue by day but ease by evening everywhere. High pressure rolls into northern NZ overnight.

NORTH ISLAND:
Showers in the west, frequent at times, easing by this evening. Dry in the east. Westerlies turn southerly later, arriving in Wellington first. Sunniest in the east where it’s warmer than average today.
Highs: 11 to 18

SOUTH ISLAND:
Westerlies turn south west with showers on the West Coast transferring to the east coast later. Showers clear tonight.
Highs: 7 to 17
