A cold front is today clearing the country leaving showers and a eventually a temperature drop.

NORTH ISLAND:
Rain in the northern half of the island slowly tracks eastwards with isolated heavy falls. The front should clear East Cape later in the afternoon. Showers remain in the west with winds generally west to north west for most regions, tiling more south west by night.
Highs: 12 to 17

SOUTH ISLAND:
West to south west winds easing back for some regions today with cold southerlies arriving in Southland later this afternoon and spreading northwards. Frequent showers in the west and south with snow on the ranges lowering tonight and may impact Alpine passes. Mainly dry in the east and north.
Highs: 6 to 15
